Hey! Thanks for joining me on my Repair Month journey. Looking back, it made me want to shop less… But not entirely. Below is a list of everything I looked at and lusted after in January.
What I Wore
My Guest In Residence “going-out cardigan,” a Kallmeyer faux leather skirt that I had tailored, vintage Tod’s suede boots, and a vintage Kate Spade bag. I was going for Gwyneth Paltrow in Great Expectations.
What I Bought
A small dry-erase board to keep track of deadlines. Changed my life.
I love these Auralee jeans so much, I got them in another color.
This Santa Maria Novella diffuser. Big mistake. My apartment smells like a department store and I spent way too much money on it to throw it out!
What I Wanted to Buy
This Sandy Liang dress. I heard the line for the brand’s sample sale this month stretched multiple blocks and everyone had bows in their hair.
Chris Chang texted me this link. 🤌🤌🤌
Unfortunately, they refused.
What I Saved Someone From Buying
What I Screenshot-ed on The RealReal
Someone out there is already trying to sell their $5,200 Phoebe Philo coat. It was purchased pretty quickly on TRR, then apparently RETURNED, and now it’s for sale again.
What Interested Me At Fashion Week
You’ve probably read all about John Galliano’s moody Margiela show by now. (Couture merkins! Oh my!) And swooned over Simone Rocha for Jean Paul Gaultier. But the clothes I’m excited about *actually* buying and wearing? They’re by Super Yaya, a small label founded by Rym Beydoun, who is a good follow. I furiously double-tapped all the photos she posted from Paris this month.
What I Read
This hilarious Vows column. If I were the reporter who was forced to stay overnight with these people, I would sue for emotional damages.
After nine straight days of no sun, this story about a woman who spent 500 days in a cave made me upset.
I stand with Chloe Sevigny. Enough with the dogs!
Rats are narcissists too. Maybe that’s why we love them so much.
I finally deleted TikTok from my phone. But dammit, just when I thought I was out… Pookie and Jett pulled me back in.
What I Put Out There
For Elle, I wrote about the gleeful return of the sample sale. Lynette told me an amazing story about her run-in with Julianne Moore at the Row.
Applications to be my husband are officially open! You can read more about me and how picky I am in my
profile.I let
into my apartment and she helped me clean out my closet. Watch the full video here!
Where I Went
Every month, the Paul Rudolph Institute opens up the architect’s townhouse on East 58th Street to visitors. I went with
and and then we went to Pietro’s for dinner afterward.Who I Met
I continue to have amazing luck befriending stylish people on the subway. While waiting for the 2/3 train one afternoon, I struck up a conversation with Dolores. She told me her lipstick color is called “Private Red,” and her coat is Karl Lagerfeld. She’s had it for over a decade and recently got it repaired at Allen Tailoring on the Lower East Side. Her hat is UGG. She rules.
What I Noticed
People are carrying bags like this now. Get with it!!!
What Made me LOL
I don’t watch Real Housewives because it stresses me out, but a Bermuda Triangle-themed dinner is genius. Who wants to host?
Congratulations to Ayo Edebiri for winning January.
NEXT TIME:
is going to teach me how to take a good mirror selfie.
