Two New Moms, One Going-Out Top
A shopping expedition with Haley Nahman and Harling Ross Anton.
When I ask
and when the last time they went shopping in-person was, neither of them can really remember. “Definitely not since I gave birth,” says Haley, who wrote about the experience, which took place four-ish months ago, on her Substack, Maybe Baby, in a gripping 4,000-word essay that left me equal parts terrified, exhilarated, and in complete awe this week. Same for Harling, who gave birth seven-ish months ago.It’s a chilly Tuesday afternoon in March, and we’re standing in the middle of The RealReal’s store in Soho. The two new moms and best friends, who first met when they both worked at Man Repeller, have left their gorgeous, tiny little humans at home for a few hours to embark with me on what I can only assume is the second hardest journey a woman can sign herself up for after motherhood: finding a good going-out top.
