I think the only reason NY is not your city of YEARNING is that it’s past is already well-known and experienced by you! Plenty of yearning to be had in NY for outsiders! I would start with the idea of the Chelsea Hotel’s past as a site of aesthetic yearning but there are many! However I do understand your affection for the traces of decaying/faded LA glamour. It’s the way I feel about it too.
My top stores are easily Bearded Beagle and Squaresville in Los Feliz specifically. Aralda and James Veloria for designer/the experience. You can also stop at Eckhaus while you're visiting James Veloria as they are in the same complex.
Crossroads Trading on Melrose Ave, WEHO, and in Santa Monica are the best for thrifting. Thanks for the recommendations, many stores I didn't know about 🙏
Misspelled my hot take in the newsletter... AWESOME! ***YEARNING.
Saving this as if I have an upcoming trip to LA
Saving that foot pic…research purposes only 🫠🤤 👅 👠
I mean who doesn’t like worrying if your parking meter is going to run out of time while trying to shop. 😵💫
Me when I lived in NYC: I can walk everywhere! But I don’t like the weather so I’m staying home.
Me when I lived in LA: It’s so nice out, but I don’t want to drive anywhere.
Worship, The Bearded Beagle, Squaresville. I’ve had some luck at the melrose trading post but haven’t been in years…

That's a fair point! Plenty of yearning happening here too.
FULLY agree on the perfect short sleeve vintage grey sweatshirt. Please share amazing jeans paired with?
They're Auralee! I love them and I never say that about jeans.
Was going to ask ab jeans… that wash is perrrrrrfect
Love how you describe LA as a city of yearning vs NYC as a city of wanting. So very apt!
