We did it! We made it through March, my least favorite month of the year—one with zero bank holidays, rude weather, and too much talk about taxes. I also got the flu. My Italian language tutor, Domenico, taught me the saying, “Marzo è pazzo,” which translates to “March is crazy,” and to that, I say: Si.
I spent this trying time reacquainting myself with my closet and feverishly plotting my escape plans for spring/summer. Because the latter involves booking flights, I also spent many hours going down a Boeing rabbit hole and will now be swimming to Europe, thank you.
The only good thing March gave us was Dune 2. But even the joy of Muad'dib was squandered when photos of Timmy Chalamet as Dry Clean Only Bob Dylan surfaced online. Sigh. I soothed myself by reading Christopher Walken’s Wikipedia page over and over again until I committed it to memory. The spice!
Below is everything else I read, watched, and bought.
What I Bought…
The few weeks of the year when you can comfortably wear a trench coat in New York City are almost here slash already upon us, so you better get one now, or else. AYR sent me this one and I like it. Reminds me of Armani. If you hate wrinkles, though, beware.
The Row made me want a pair of white corduroys, but there’s no way I’m paying over $1,000 for something I’m very likely to spill chocolate gelato on, so I went with these Reformation pants instead. Sweatsuit is Entireworld (RIP).
In anticipation of seeing the sun again, I also bought another pair of the most perfect sunglasses ever made, a.k.a the Clare V. x Garrett Leight collab. Plus, a pair of big bitchy beach sunglasses from Alaia that I found on eBay.
What I Should Not Have Bought…
My Nancy Meyers vacation fantasy went too far with these silk Reformation pants. They felt so flimsy that I didn’t even need to try them on. Also, packing silk is stupid.
What I Wanted to Buy…
I went searching for vintage Victor Costa after Roya from the Odeon told me the designer’s name is one of her saved searches and I found some good stuff.
I also visited the new Lauren Manoogian store at 407 Broome Street in Soho and touched racks on racks of really soft pieces like this tank dress. These pants are made of an incredibly lightweight material as well.
What I Screenshot-ed on The RealReal…
No object has so thoroughly hurdled me back to the 2010s than this Dannjio necklace.
What I Watched… *Other than Dune
I’ll be in Rome at the end of April, and Allison told me to watch Only You, a rom-com comedy starring Marisa Tomei as a hopeless romantic who goes to Italy in search of a guy whose name she saw on a Ouija board and finds Robert Downey Jr. instead. Great outfits!
What I Read… *Other than Dune
An incredible case for why Italians should not be allowed in government…
…They should just stick to making perfumes instead.
Jonah Weiner, co-author of
, on Big Pants.Mel Ottenberg on the insanity of celebrity styling.
Phoebe Philo sounding extremely French in The New York Times. That was really my main takeaway.
An obit for a beloved tailor.
My friend Emma Wartzman’s new column for Eater about cooking for one!
A Year on Earth With Mr. Hell is as good as everyone says.
And if you think things are bad now, just wait until the sun explodes!
What I’m Currently Obsessed With…
Bella Hadid dating a competitive cowboy. Taylor and Travis, who?
NEXT TIME: I’m going on vacation so I thought this might be a good time for an “ASK ME ANYTHING” post. Leave your questions for me in the comments below or send me an email and I’ll do my best to answer them! I’ve also got a few questions for you.
Will be making Emma Wartzman’s soup recipe TONIGHT!
Lol - I actually Googled "clubbing in the UK" to see if it was something else. PP is an icon for sneaking that one in. Can't stop thinking about it.
